Message From the Principal

I hope everyone has a safe and peaceful holiday season.  We will see you back at Robinson on January 8th.  I won’t be here, but Mr. Cott will be. He will take good care of the school and all the kids. I was able to introduce him to most of the kids yesterday.

This will be my last Tuesday Tide. I want to say thank you for all the parent support. You guys are great. I also want to thank you for giving us your children for 6 hours every day.  You have amazing kids. I really enjoyed getting to know them. They will forever occupy a special place in my heart.

Tricks of the Trade – Coaching our Teachers

We can all use more motivation and education to help heighten a skill or talent. Teachers throughout our District are taking their talent for teaching to great heights with a new model for growth. MBEF is funding a teacher/coach in several disciplines, including math, science and technology, across all grade levels to support this concept.

A Time for Giving

‘Tis the season for giving. Please don’t forget to support the community that ensures your children have access to programs that enrich and empower their academic success. Please give to MBEF this season!

Holidays From the Heart

THANK YOU Schuyler Chang and Dina Stephens and to all the generous volunteers who are participating in the Holidays From the Heart program. More than 60 Robinson families are working together to help improve the lives of families experiencing financial hardships during their child's stay at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

Mindful Mondays at Robinson, Sponsored by your PTSA

Joanie Plake, founder of Breathe & Learn, will be leading 3 mindfulness and yoga workshops in December for the Robinson School community. The goal of each workshop is to create time for parents and their children to connect and deepen their relationship through unique yoga and mindfulness activities.

Spelling Bee Committee Now Forming

Hello all you Robinson busy bees! Do you love learning new words, school spirit, or the idea of you or your child being the country's best speller? If yes, this committee is for you! Please contact Jen Berlinger at 310-293-6700 if you are interested. Very little time commitment, fun group, and huge rewards for our Robinson students! We need student's help as well as parents! Our school-wide spelling bee will be sometime in February, more details coming soon!

What does the PTSA mean to your child?

The PTSA is our Riptide community and it unites every parent, teacher and student at Robinson.  The PTSA means your child can participate in Young At Art, Growing Great, the 3 Piggy Opera, and Hip Hop.  The PTSA means your child is learning with MakerSpace activities, writing resources and classroom supplies.  The PTSA means your child is safe because of campus improvements and on-site security cameras.  And the PTSA means your child is having fun with field trips, iPads and yearbooks.

DirectorySpot – Online Robinson Directory

Music: An Instrument for Learning

Studies by the U.S. Department of Education show that music in schools helps children learn math, as well as improve cognitive development. Over time, kids with music programs in their schools demonstrate higher math and science proficiency by a significant margin. The strong foundation in music developed in elementary grades has led to our Grammy winning program at Mira Costa. Investing in our Annual Appeal ensures that your child will have music in grades 1-12.
